The Bible is the best selling book in all of world history. No other book can compare to it. To help you take that first step towards reading the entire Bible, this reading plan has been developed to serve as a guide.
The way the plan is designed is to allow you to take a week each year to read parts of the Bible. The plan is designed to give you an old testament reading, a new testament reading and a reading from the Psalms and Proverbs. You can follow it week to week or pick and choose weeks at your will. If you read 3 chapters a day and 5 on Sunday or 3 chapters 5 days a week and 4 chapters on 2 days of a week, you will complete the Bible in a year. Below is an explanation of how the plan is setup. Reading the Bible can be overwhelming and it is quite likely you will not fully understand what you are reading, but do not be discouraged. Read on and learn as you go. As you read, you may say “I have heard this before” or “I remember that name” and the more you read, the more you will understand. If the process is too overwhelming for you and you want just a quick overview of the Bible, remember the acronym Good Deed JAR. Read Genesis (old testament weeks 1 – 5), Deuteronomy (old testament weeks 14-16), John (new testament weeks 9-11), Acts (new testament weeks 12-14) and Romans (new testament weeks 15-16). This program also known as the “Five Alive” program gives you a brief overview of the Bible and is often a good place to start for beginners that are not ready to tackle the entire Bible. However for a true blessing and time with God, it is best to read the entire Bible at least once in your lifetime. Enjoy your time reading God’s word and may you be blessed by doing so.
Be blessed as you read the blessing God gave to us in the form of His written word.
